Kel Sweeney

Kel Sweeney - Biog

I became a house music lover in 1988 when the dance scene was in its formative days, I spent the last 18 years playing dance music in nightclubs over the UK as well as private gigs in Europe.

I developed an exceptional technical ability and empathy with the crowds when records, were still the main source of sound in clubs.  I moved with the technological advances over the years to incorporate the use of digital media and special effects to create a unique sound.  My audio sets always involve cutting up and live remixing using the Pioneer EFX1000 unit.

In the last year I have enhanced my offering by adding visuals to my set and becoming a DVJ rather than a DJ.  I use interesting graphics and film clips - that I have shot myself - or existing music videos to create a unique audio visual experience within the club environment.  My sets embrace the atmosphere of the club by bringing humour, juxtaposition and art to the clubber or immerse them in a surreal film scene to draw the attention to the video screens before jumping straight back into the music.

My approach to DVJ sets involve a flowing journey of perfectly programmed content that is  personalised to each venue that I play.  It has been enhanced by the use of the Pioneer SVM1000 audio visual mixer that was released in February 2008.

I supply all the equipment needed to perform a full Audio Visual DVJ set including the Pioneer DVJ1000 turntables, an SVM1000, or for smaller venues, the Pioneer DJM800 linked to an Edirol V4 Video mixer, Pioneer EFX1000 units, or a plain Pioneer VSW Video switcher box.  Or simply turn up with the dvd material if the venue already has the ability to allow DVJ sets.
